How long does it take for a check to go bad?

my grandma gave me this check... 2 months ago im cashing it now is it too late?

  1. it's still good. I think you have 6 months.


  2. The check is still good. If the check doesn't have a "void after # of days"  then they check is still good. Since it's from your grandma, I'm sure it doesn't have a "void after date on it" so the check should be good for up to a year. After that it's up to the bank if that want to cash it or not.

  3. No. You still have time to cash the check. Usually checks say how long they are good for. But most checks are good for 6 months. Especially personal checks. Go to the bank where the check is from ,with current ID and they have to cash it. It's still good.  All they have to do is check to see if the funds are available. The only way you wouldn't be able to cash it, is if the account is closed.

  4. If it is a personal check from her to you, then it is still good until you cash it, or the account is closed.
