Question:

How long does it take for a cockateil to starve.also cockateil tips on getting them to like each other?

i just got a new cockateil.and my other cockateil (mango) does not get along with this one.can someone give me tips on getting them along.and also the new cockateil (pumkin) is not eating its not been 24 hours so im not as worried.but do u think it will eat .im worried.also can someone tell me how to make my two cockateils friends.by the way they r in seprate cages for now.they do play a little but i dont know if they r playing or fighting.(how do i tell)also what breed would a cockateil be if it was gray all over,the cheeks were red/orange the face was gray with just a little hint of yellow.also a small part of the wings on both sides had white.please do anwser my question.by the way i know for shure pumkin is not eating because the p**p is black.i think its a male as the feathers r out instead of tuck in and it chirps alot.

  1. you can never "make" two birds get along or like each other... not all birds like each other, just like not all people like each other, they may never bond! birds that dont get along can fight to the point of death on rare occasions, or more often than not, badly hurt each other. you just got the new one and its going to a take a few weeks to get comfortable in its new surrounding... their play time should be monitored. normally pairs will have little quarrels here and there but there should be no feather loss, no bleeding... just some minor beak fencing and some squawking. they'll fight over top perch, first to try food or treat, first to play with a toy, etc, so make sure there is plenty to go around, giving them less to fight over. it should start eating soon once it calms down, if not you need to call an avian specialist to make sure it does not have a beak malformation which inhibits it from eating properly. offer it a variety of foods, birds should eat a little of a lot. but no junk food and no avocado! but definitely give it some time to get used to its new surrounding before you jump to any conclusions... and when in doubt call your breeder or avian vet!
