How long does it take for a job to get back to you...?

I'm only 16 and have applied for a saturday job in a retail shop ( a card shop). It's only a saturday job so it can't take that long to get back can it? How long will it probably take it back to me if I have a chance of getting the job?

It depends . . . my general rule is that if I haven't heard from them in 4 or 5 days, I call them to check the status of the application. That also shows that you are  interested in the position :)

jobs donb't come to you people come to the jobs. You could work all of saturday every week so hope you don't like saturdays

some times they don't get back to you. They just hire someone else. Don't wait around. Keep looking for other jobs You might call them to see if they have hired someone. Another thing to do is go back and talk to them. Let them know you would really like to have the job. Good luck.

The time frame can vary. You should call them and ask. One time I got a letter in the mail 1 month after I applied for a job. The letter said someone else had filled the position.  Again, if I were you I would just call them and ask if they filled the position yet and if not, how long until you hear back from them. If you do that, it also lets them know how interested you are in the job and shows your enthusiasm.

Depends on whether you actually received an interview from the person doing the hiring or if they just took your application.

If they just took your application, then it goes in a file with all the other applications and they look through them when they need another employee.  They may never look at it and they may never get back to you.

They usually only interview a few people for an opening based on the best applications, timing, or luck.  If they actually interviewed you for the job, a courteous manager should get back to you as soon as they finish interviewing all of the other people they interviewed.  If you're the first, it may take a week or so.  If you're the last, it might be the next day.  In retail, I wouldn't count on the manager getting back to you at all if you weren't selected for the job.  The only person they're guaranteed to contact is the person that gets the job.

On the other hand, sometimes the manager intends to interview quite a few people, but winds up being overcome by other events.  A call back after a few days isn't going to hurt you and might actually be the factor that gets you the job.  A busy manager might have had a positive impression of you and showing a little initiative by calling back could make them decide you're good enough since they're finally realizing they're never going to have enough time to interview all of the folks they wanted to.

if they are keen it should be pretty fast, in a day or 2. they could be slow when they have few candidates to consider but they should let you know in 3 days time if u stand a chance. meanwhile don't wait keep searching AND don't feel discouraged if you didnt get the job. be positive, and think of other way.

Did they have a sign saying they were hiring? You're automatically assuming that every place you apply to will respond. I applied to a LOT of stores, and only got a phone call back from one.

It all depends on the place. It being a Saturday job has nothing to do with how long it takes to get back to you.

Maybe they don't need people at the moment. Or maybe you're not the right person for the job. Or maybe they want to call your references first. Or maybe they want to wait for more applicants.

You never know. So just be patient, and start applying to more places if you're really inclined on getting a job.

After a week or two, you can always call the employer again and ask about it, but chances are if they haven't replied by then it's because they have a good reason.

It depends on how well they like you. I have waited a month before and some time the next day or same day I have gotten a reply

They never get back to you. You have to go bug them about it some more about 1 week later.
