how long does a letter (mail) take to go from california to toronto?

Send letters to my mother back and forth all the time. She is in Palm City, CA I'm in Edmonton. The letters usually take 4 to 5 days. Some have been received in 2 days, some in 7 days, but the norm is 4 or 5.

I've been corresponding about 2 years with a friend in California . Sometimes it took around 5 to 7 days and some other times it was longer, usually under 2 weeks.

Plan on two to three weeks.  It takes about 7-10 days for a letter to go from Detroit to Toronto, which is a much shorter distance.  I think the hang-up is when you have mail going from the U.S. to Canada...
