Ive read that its 18 days. Is it usually 18 days or can the pigeon eggs hatch earlier/before? Im asking this question because the pigeons in my balcony have been sitting on their eggs for a little more then 2 weeks and im starting to get worried they wont hatch since about a year ago a different set of pigeons laid eggs on my balcony but i found out that the eggs did not hatch because the mama pigeon i guess was mad and decided to throw them away and when they cracked on the ground, all that was inside was yellow goo... sry long story :D, hope some1 can help answer my question. ty

  1. The female may sit on the nest a day or two before the first egg is laid. Generally 2 white eggs are laid. Both the male and female will incubate the eggs although the female does the incubation during the night.

Incubation last for about 18 days and the young will leave the nest in 25 to 29 days after hatching.

P.s. females birds can lay infertile eggs without having mated.

  2. yes your right 18 to 25
