I burnt my foot last night and am wondering how long it will take to heal, I have three small blisters so I'm thinking it's a second degree burn.

  1. If you just have blistering on the first layer of skin, its more than likely its only a first degree burn. A second degree burn is a little more serious and more than likely would require medical attention. Healing of the human body is entirely dependant on the person. We've all seen the person who has been in a car accident and just weeks later is walking around again. Others may be off their feet for months. Therefore it can be hard to give you a time estimate. The best thing to do is help the healing as much as you can. Whatever you do, dont pop those blisters. That'll leave the wounds open to infection from germs and bacteria, which is especially a concern if the burns are on your feet. Applying special burn creams to soothe and keep the skin soft can sometimes help. If the blisters do pop, keep them as covered as you can, by using a bandaid if you have to wear sandles of heels or something. Keep the area as clean as you can and if there is any continued swelling, keep icing the area as often as you can. This'll reduce the pain and also the duration that it takes for the wound to heal. Goodluck with it all =]

  3. Soak in water with epsom salts and then apply a thin layer of honey, then put on a light cotton sock.  Do this every night.  It should help some.
