  1. it depends on the hits and links, ie. the people who link to your site, but if you are a bit lucky, you will see your site on google in the next 10 days max.

  2. Now, your URL is in the waiting line to be picked from Google's crawl robots aka Googlebot. Depending on its capacity and occupancy rates, your URL will be listed when the bot has the time to visit it.

  3. Can take upto two weeks for URL to be harvested

  4. Do some bookmarks in popular sites like Digg, Delicious, Stumble Upon & Propeller with your targeted keyword as anchor text (but don't spam it) you will see the immediate effect.

    Good Luck :)

  5. If the URL is new (you recently purchased it and recently put the web site up) it can take some time.  Google has what people call the Sandbox effect where they don't give new web sites position on search engines for weeks or even months.

One tactic that has worked (even on a new site) is, if the site is a blog, is to embed video in the post.  There's an example of the effect here:

It may not work for your exact situation.  And, for a blog to have a chance you do have to know at least a little about search engine optimization. There is a great book called Search Engine Optimization an Hour a Day that I would recommend.

    Good luck!
