  1. Under 30 seconds..

It's not as strenuous as a person giving birth. Seeing as how the birth canal and etc doesn't need to stretch that much.

NOTE: I was talking about laying ONE egg, not a clutch.

  2. Usually a couple of hours. Most of my colubrids take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours to lay about a dozen eggs. I don't know where the one answerer got thirty seconds from. And to correct the first answerer, not all snakes lay eggs. There are many which give live birth.

  3. well it all depends on what snake you're talking about. Snakes like Boa's will produce live young. Snakes like colubrids such as king snakes will lay eggs. In laying the eggs there will be a clutch. for example, the last clutch of eggs one of my king snakes laid took her around 3 hours to lay 11 eggs laying one at a time. If you want to know about a specific snake, just ask

  4. I have found most of my snakes take anywhere from a few hours to around 8.  It depends upon the size of the litter or clutch.  My first cornsnake clutch of 21 eggs took most of the day for her to lay. My boa gave birth to 6 babies in a matter of a few hours.

  5. Snakes produce several eggs at a time (called a clutch) rather then just a single egg. Depending on the number it can take just a few minutes to a few hours to lay the entire clutch. Some snakes give birth to live young rather then eggs.
