I have been living about 7 years in the U.S. as an asylee. I received my US Permanent resident card in 2005. Now it is 2008, and I'm wondering when can I exactly apply for my citizenship.

Thanks in advance.

  1. hi basically you can apply for the citizenship at least 5 yrs have been US permanent resident, you said u got your US greencard in 2005, u are not qualified right now.

however, if u grant your US greencard from getting married to US citizen who gets his/her citizenship at least 3 yrs, and u are still living with her/him at lest 3 yrs, then u can apply ur citizenship now.  hope it can help.

  2. You need to be legally here for five years and then you can apply for citizenship.

You could have done it 2 years ago. Good luck.
