Hi! I was exploring the yard, where we keep our horses. We have a stort loggish thing sticking un in the ground and it is hollow. I Was looking around one day, and found a bird's nest with three eggs. Every time I go near it, the bird flys out of the nest, even If I am nowhere near it. It is a small bird too. Anyways, there were three eggs. It is near the horse's water, so everyday when I check their water, I pass the birds nest. I checked it three days ago, and I didn't get to check it the last two days (we have an automatic waterer for the horses so don't worry about that). Anyways. I came back today, and two of the eggs hatched. I checked this morning. I checked again five minuetes ago, and the egg still hadn't hatched. The babys are starting to grow little feather things on their head already. Do you think the egg is a bad one, and will eventually go bad? If so, how will the mom get the egg out of the nest? It is 1/4 the size of her! Thanks!

  1. depends what temperature and what kind of egg. a human egg takes 9 months

  2. I have a very large bird house. It has maybe 7 houses. I can't remember. The first bird that came had 3 or 4 eggs. 1 didn't make it. My guess is that it went bad. Poor baby bird.

  3. a week or two at least

  4. Yes it is infertile it won't hatch. Leave it alone let the Mother sort it out herself. Never touch bird's nests or eggs.

  5. more than likely it is an unfertilized egg, two out of three is not bad the mother bird will  remove the egg in due time leave her alone and let nature take her course
