  1. There is no answer to your question because no one has a crystal ball they can look into.

It all depends on humans and how much work is done to try and save them.  If an animal is placed on the endangered species list and people do not give a c**p they can vanish in just a few generations.  However if people work hard their numbers might rebound to the point they are taken off the list.

Thus, I guess the answer is a few generations to never.  There is just no way to know which will be which.

  2. It can be as little as one or two generations -- for elephants, that might be 60 years/generation, for frogs, two or three years.

It depends if they are dying because they have no place to live, or if their food source has been destroyed, or like the dodo and passenger pigeon, people are eating them all.

  3. It would depend on the cause of extinction, and possibly the species. For example, habitat destruction could cause a rare plant species to become extinct in one swoop if it is only found in one particular area.

  4. Well, it depends on a number of factors. The number one threat to endangered wildlife is destruction of their natural habitats, so the rate of habitat loss is important. It also depends on the size of the species' range, its population, and birthrate. There's no single answer to your question.
