Me and some friends want to buy advance train tickets to Bournemouth, but to get a 'groupsave' and reserved seats we need £110. My friend is willing to lend it all but his account is a child one and he cannot make payments online from it.

If he gives me £110 cash and I pay it in to my bank (Halifax) how long will it take for the funds to appear in my bank, will it me almost immediate or does it take around 3 days like a cheque or transfer?

Halifax is a building society I think so does this affect it?

I never know because if I have cash I always end up spending it :P

  1. Should be straight away.

  2. If you paid in over the counter it is instant

  3. cash deposits show up instantly and can be used while checks take about 3days

  4. Cash is credited at once, only cheques take longer. Put it in straight away or you will end up spending it though!!!

  5. If it is paid in cash at the branch where your account is then it is immediate.

  6. It should go in immediately, shows up on an atm machine the next day. Hope this has helped.

  7. It is immediate as you pay it in. Think you are getting confused with paying in cheques, which take time to clear as the funds are coming from someone elses bank account, so your own bank has to know the cheque will be honored before they let you spend it. Enjoy your trip and ignore the a**holes who make stupid comments and have nothing worthwhile to contribute.
