How long does it take for cavaties to grow???

i was looking at my teeth today after i brushed them...and i noticed a black dot that wouldnt come off!! i have never had a cavity, i didnt notice this on my tooth before, im wondering how long it takes for it to get worse.

  1. Well, obviously that's going to depend on your eating habits, and how well you care for your teeth.  It doesn't take a lot for a cavity to become larger. I would suggest seeing your dentist to first make sure it's a cavity. If it is, get it filled soon, so that it doesn't get worse.  


  2. Getting to the dentist soon will prevent you from having problems in that tooth later. the longer you wait, the bigger the cavity gets. Just because it looks small as you look at it doesn't mean that it is small because inside your tooth the material  is softer and decay could be spreading inside and you would not be able to see it.  Make an appointment as soon as you can, and in the meantime, make sure you are brushing regularly so that you are not adding fuel to the decay.
