Hi i was on depo for about 6 mts (1st shot Jan 29 & 2nd April 26). I didn't go get my next shot because in between my monthlies I was getting this brown discharge (TMI) then I would have my monthly and that would last over a week. Well since I haven't had the next shot (Due July 26) I haven't been having the discharge and I haven't had my monthly. I did have unprotected s*x with my fiance. when do you think I might be able to conceive? Just advice from anyone that have been on the depo. Thanks!

  1. It is possible that you can conceive, I missed mine by 2 weeks and got pregnant but the pregnancy was not successfull so i wouldnt hold my breath.  In most cases it takes about 6 months for your cycle to return to normal but can take as long as 2 years.  I would advise that you track any bleeding that you have now for the next 6 months and if you have none at all go and see a doctor for some advice.

  2. depo can take anywhere from 12-18 months to leave your system. but..... every1 is different so for some ppl it could be 1 month for others alot longer. its really no way to know for sure. i was on depo in 2006 and had this talk with my doctor.

  3. Well, to me, the rule of thumb is as long as you were on it again. So it'd be 6 months before your system's clean, and 6 months after that before things go back to normal. I was on depo for 2 years, it took 2 years for my period to get back to normal where I wasn't freaking that I was pregnant again, and another 2 years before I had my daughter, but that was because we were in a long distance relationship and didn't see each other often for about a year. He moved in and I got pregnant the first week, lol. The discharge is normal until your body gets used to it, then you don't have cycles at all, but it usually takes about 3 shots worth to get regular.

    Good luck!
