How long does it take for fingerprinting and how much is it for one hand?

I need to get my fingerprints done and I'm not sure how long it will take or the price really i was told five dollars but when I look at sites it says like 55 dollars but I can't find out if that's for virginia or not I only need one hand not both can anyone help me with this?

I've had them done several times and it never cost me anything.  Times are changing, however, so they probably charge now.  To find out, call your local sheriff's office and ask (that's probably where you'd have them done anyway).  They use both hands and it only takes a minute or so.

Usually they need both hands and it's done in about 5-10 on an electronic device.  I got them done for teaching in PA and they cost me around $45 or so (maybe a little less).

However, this was done for a clearance for teaching and it's a one time thing for me...the price may be something different if you're going to get it done for another reason.
