How long does it take for fish to get used to other fish and the tank?

So I recently bought two new fish to add to my tank. There a 4 big ones (which are harmless) and four tiny ones. When I first put them in, there were scared for a couple of hours. But later, one of them became used to everything and was able to eat, swim around freely, etc. But the other is still scared of the bigger fish and runs away when close to one. I am afraid that it will die due to hunger and lack of activity. It doesn't eat, it stays in a corner and runs away to another corner. Is there something I could do to help this? How long will it take for the fish to not be scared and to be used to the tank and other fish? Is this normal for it to take this long?

  2. in due time some fast and some will time longer around a week or two just watch they won't get stress and become sick.

  3. this is the usual thing you find with knew fish.  i had 2 fancy tailed guppys and they were fine.  i then bought 2 black skirt tetras.  the guppys were then scared to death.  we had to put them in a breeding cage to seperate them.  the guppys relaxed after a week of that but we kept them in it.  your fish could be still afraid.  if it is a schooling fish, get more of its kind.  that will make it less scared because of the group.  if you can get live plants or fake ones, place them in your tank.  it will allow the fish to hide until it is feeling braver.  good luck with this bit of info!!!

  4. Big fish eat little fish.

It has every right to RUN FOR HIS LIFE!

Even harmless goldfish will eat a smaller one if it will fit in it's mouth.

The fish is not being mean or aggressive. it's just how the wonders of nature work.
