  1. it depends on which provider you have! we have swalec here andi asked that they install prepayment meters and it took them a week to actually come round and do it and then took maybe 20 minutes fitting the electric one, the gas was a bit longer as they had to shut everything off and make sure it was all workin properly!!

i personally think the prepayement meters are cheaper than quarterly bills, it worked out that way for us! we put on £15 a week on the electric, i have a dishwasher, washing machine tumble drier and 2 pcs that are on constantly and its not often that we run into emergency credit!

It worked out about £30 more expensive a quarter to have the other meters for us. i use alot of electric but im sure if i did watch what i  was doing i would save us alot more money!!

you might find its cheaper for you too!

  2. It can take a week or so but beware, prepayment meters are very expensive, much more so than having a quarterly bill, and you do have to go to a shop to get the card recharged.

  3. depends on how many cups of tea you make the fitters

  4. An electric meter will take half hour to fit.

  5. The actual fitting of just a meter without running any pipes or wires is 1-2 hours.

  6. electric meter only takes 15 to 20 minutes,!!
