How long does it take for green avocados to turn black?

I bought avocados yesterday. They are green and hard as rocks. How long will it take before the skin turns black and the inside gets soft so i can make dip?

Place them in a warm area with a banana. The fumes from the bananas together with the heat will help to ripen the avocados quickly. This should take 3 - 4 days. Once they are black place in fridge so that you don't have to eat them all right away.
