How long does it take for mascara to go bad?

I don't wear make up very often, so I often have the same bottle of mascara for almost a year. How long after you buy mascara does it go bad? When should I throw it out and buy a new bottle?

When you notice it getting clumpy, it's time to throw it out.  Experts will tell you that you should replace your mascara every three months.  Also, don't pump the wand because that will only push air into the tube and cause it to clump much faster.

It says on the mascara hun ;) usually about 12-18 months.

you gotta be careful, you could end up with eye infections

. The shelf life of mascara is approximately three months, depending on your usage habits. After that period of time you should throw it out and get a new one. Doing otherwise increases your chances of having an eye infection.
