Do they bill you when they ship the product out?

It depends on the online store. For their security most will verify instantly before they let you check out. Some bill during or right after checkout; however, some bill when they ship.  Others will lay claim to the purchase amount on your credit card and then bill that when they ship.

Since many stores now ship the same day you order it can be hard to tell exactly at what stage the billing process occurred since both events were on the same date.

Typically they bill you instantly, meaning that you must enter your credit card information online to make the purchase. In my experience the charge is made when the product is shipped.
