How long does it take for student US visa to process?

I got admission and soon i will get my I-20, then i will apply for visa along with required documents. My question is that since my session i starting in september 2008, how long will take the whole process?

my 2nd question is that when is the best and required time to apply for student visa when your classes will start in september?

I am from pakistan. your help appreciated.

Just find the embassy or consulate where you will apply, and the latest information is there.

You should start as soon as possible after you get 1-20. It may be hard to make an appointment to have an interview with the US diplomat at the US ministry in Pakistan.
