FAFSA won't send you any money.  It will send it to the school.  Applying for financial aid is a process that can take weeks MANY MANY weeks.

I've never heard of a school (or fafsa) sending you money in hand to pay for books. Most schools will give you a book voucher to be used at the school's bookstore ONLY. Nowadays the voucher is not usually a physical piece of paper either, its in the bookstore's database how much the school is giving you. All book voucher amounts will not be the same, so some students might recieve a lot and others may recieve a little.
