How long does it take for vitamins to reach bloodstream?

I think I was low on iron. I took a multivitamin an hour ago. I was wondering how long it will be before I see an effect. Will it be almost immediately or will it just be a build up over time?

  1. I don't think you were low on iron.  Iron stores deplete over a length of time.  I've had iron anemia before, and believe me, it takes a while to happen, and a while to fix.

If you're feeling very very tired, with low energy, and your skin is very pale (this is for an extended time) than you may have an iron deficiency.  Go get a blood test!

As for reaching your bloodstream, I would guess it would be as long as regular medication...probably 1 hour.

My guess is if you had low energy an hour ago, your blood sugar was low.  Eat a piece of fruit!  And take your multivitamin everyday, just for good measure :)
