I havent found my perfect wedding dress yet and my wedding is Nov. 1! I only have 2 and 1/2 months left. Is that enough time to order a wedding dress or am i going to have to buy one off the rack? Plus, any suggestions on where to get a dress? I don't like the davids bridal selection. Thanks!

  1. Not to worry you, but my fiance ordered hers 6 mos in advance, but found out months before the wedding that the factory in China had closed.  You are now offically under the gun and need to start making some hard decisions.

    Good luck

  2. You can go to www.shellyleppertdesigns.com and look at the dresses that they have. They have some beautiful new and used wedding dresses at great prices, and they can find you the type of dress you are looking for. They can get it to you fast.

  3. It takes months to order and receive your wedding dress. In my daughters case it took 4months.

  4. I went to David's Bridal back in March, they told me to have my dress in time for September I had to order it then.  It came 6 weeks later.  It pissed me off because now I lost all this weight and my dress has to get taken in..

  5. In such short time, I would probably recommend hunting for some on the rack because of sizing purposes.  If you don't want to take the time for alterations after worrying about whether your dress will make it in time, you want to find one that already fits you well.

  6. It usually takes 3 to 9 months. You will probably have to buy something off the rack.

  7. It really depends on what designer you choose.  If you fall in love with a dress from a certain designer it could take 1 to 6 months, depending on what designer it is.

When looking for dresses you should tell the sales people your timeline and they should know which suppliers can deliver dresses quickly.  That way they will only show you dresses you can actually have in time for your wedding!

    Good Luck!

  8. Ask your bridal shop about the possibility of a "rush cut" or "rush job" on the dress you want.  Sometimes they can do that in a few months, instead of the 4-6 months it sometimes takes.  Good luck, and best wishes.

  9. I bought my dress from sears, and I loved it,  it took 1-2 weeks to get to me and the only thing that had to be altered was it had to be shortened a bit

  10. It really depends on the elaborateness of the dress, does it have lots of beading or embroidery? If so, those take much longer to get in general. If I were you I'd get on this ASAP if this is the dress you must have. Be honest with the bridal shop owners and make sure they guarantee that the dress will be in in time for proper alterations. You need to start calling stores like tomorrow.

  11. I live in canada and i am looking now and they all tell me 6-8 months to get the dress not including the hemming and alterations

  12. it takes months to order a dress....my wedding is also Nov. 1, 2008 and I ordered my dress in January and it's only coming in this week.  Some stores (like JCrew) have a bridal selection that probably won't take that long, but you might have to do the David's Bridal route.  Also, you can call stores to see how quickly they can get the dress. It probably all depends on the manufacturer.  Good Luck & Congrats!

  13. Usually everything I have seen that you order takes at least 3-6 months. Someone may be able to get something to you in 2 1/2 months, but the alterations can add a couple of weeks to that.

    Good luck.
