  1. No state requires formal education.  Most states do require a high school diploma.


  2. Pharmacy technician programs run from a few weeks to 2 years (roughly).  You can also become a certified technician without taking any courses at all and simply passing the PTCB (ptcb.org) exam or working as a technician.  The rules vary from state to state but you can get tons of information at the above website.
