  1. Depending on the soil,.water and fertilization! Water-Melons and Pumpkins need plenty of water and drainage,as they are nearly 90% water! Melons like sandy soil, whereas Pumpkins can be grown successfully in most soil, like red clay in Ky and in Northern states also! Within 80 to 120 days there should be Harvestable Fruit! Pollination is another factor, the Honeybee population is way down due to them having killer mites, and they play a crucial role in the development of Plants!

  2. This will depend on the variety of plant and your location. Look on the seed packet or plant tag. The information on it will tell you how long it takes to produce a harvest. At this date, if you haven't seen any small fruits producing at the end of one of those flowers, you may not get any fruit. Melons and pumpkins have both male and female flowers on the vines. If there are far more one than the other, you have a problem. Depending on how many plants you have planted, the more the better, may increase the ration of male to female blossoms. Most melon and squash (pumpkins are squash) varieties do need a long season to ripe their fruits, some as long as over 120 days.

  3. They should already be growing to a noticeble size//It sounds like you may be fertilizing them with a high nitrogen fertilizer..this willl give you all leaves and very little fruit..they need a high phosphrous and potassium based fertilizer..
