So i had a baby girl on the 21st (7lbs.3oz) and i was wondering how long it takes to heal down there, i know the doc said it can take up to 6 weeks or longer depending on the person. anyways i didnt really tare and didnt get any stitches! BUT i do have a few small lacerations. anyone else had this happen?

how long does it take to heal?

and good advice on treating it?

also does it take longer to heal since its more of an internal thing?

i can only find info about people who tore and had to get stitches...need some advice from people who had lacerations without any stitches.

thanks for any answers!!

  1. Dermaplast is great down there. The hospital also gave me epifoam. Didn't they give you stuff for it?  I didn't tear with the last two but I did have some lacerations with the third.

  2. i tore and had a 7 lb baby and i was heald in 4 weeks i had postpartum at 4 weeks and he said everything was great

  3. Hello,

Congrats on your little bundle of joy!Sorry, but the truth is that, after a vaginal delivery, you're gonna swell down there—a lot. Buy some small freezer packs (thin bags, not big plastic rectangles) or a few bags of peas and keep them in your freezer. You'll be beyond grateful in your first post-partum days to be able to ice that area gently back down to a recognizable size. There you go! Hope I helped! Good luck!

  4. I am a CCMA

Yes it takes about 6 weeks and you should not engage in sexual activities until you are check out in 6 weeks

  5. At least 3 weeks.

Use lukewarm water with little salt and damp the place gently.

  6. Well, I had a c-section but had lacerations where she was stuck in my pelvis, but me and my bf were intimate(using condoms for my protection from infection) about a month after my daughter was born. But it take up to 6 weeks to feel somewhat normal, but it's a year before you feel back to your old self, with no extra hair falling out or strange sweats, lol. Of course, it depends on how much you notice this stuff too. You'll bleed, then stop, then bleed, then maybe stop completely if you're lucky. Even though it's internal, it still will heal in a normal time frame as long as you aren't doing lots of strenuous activities. But we can't know how long it's going to take for you, cause we don't know how severe the lacerations are(they don't stitch if they can get away with it, ragged lacerations heal quicker and stronger if left alone)

    Good luck!
