How long does it take to abuse an automatic transmission until it dies?

If I start my car, put it in gear with my foot on the brake and step on the gas slowly reving the motor some but gaining rpm till the transmission burns up due to the bands slipping, for how long will I have to be doing that for it to burn up?

wow not sure bout that one some trannys can take a beating and some cant handle c**p depends is it a new car?

I would make them fix/replace it now.  If it slips, that should be justification for replacement.  If you do it intentionally, it may be evident to the dealership.  Some computers store critical info in the computer that may show the car was not moving when the trans reached critical temp and burned up.  I would press them to replace it as is.  get a second opinion and use that estimate to push them, with the help of a lawyer if needed, to do what they should, or go to another dealer.
