  1. It all depends on the school you're attending.  Ranks are conferred within your organization bylaws.  Not all ranks are acquired the same way.   Even styles that are similar to each other often have different ways in giving out rank.

    Hope this helps a bit.

  2. most of the martial arts schools give belts too fast and too easy. they do it just to keep practioners interested and motivated. The color of the belt doesnt tell how good you are.. it only indicates the general skill level.

But it depends on the schools policy. Different styles have different standarts. In the beginning youll advance faster. Youll get another belt when your instructor thinks your ready.

  3. how big is your wallet ? it's all about the money.

  4. It depends on which belt. For example, it takes less time to go from your first to second belt than it would to go from fourth to fifth, as the earlier belts have easier and/or less material to learn. Also, some schools have time constraints: for example, (assuming the school has testing once a month) as a white belt you're eligible to test every month. But once you get your orange belt, you're eligible to test every -other- month. Higher belts you may need to wait three or four months between tests. I don't know about your specific school, it may not have time constraints, but regardless it will take you longer to advance to another belt as you get farther along since there will be more material and it will be more difficult.
