Question:

How long does it take to be really good at it? Am I too old?

I wanna be in Gymnastics but I am 13. Is that too old to start? how long will it take to be really good at it? Is it years of training or how do you start and what do they make you do?

  1. 13 isn't necessarily too old. Nobody can tell you how fast you'll get good. You may have a natural talent and progress to be great in a year

    or you might train hard and never get really good. its all about being flexible and a natural.

    To start find a local gym to start taking classes at, you can google it or check your local paper

    They will start out teaching you easy things like round-offs and splits, and move on to more difficult things at your own pace

  2. You are not ot old! Just get a trainer to get flexible and stronger then start practicing.

  3. well yes it's old but not too old. If you want to do it then go for it. Most people don't start in their teens because growth spurts can often cause injury problems . It might take time to be good but be patient and try hard. If you are starting at the beginning it might take a couple years to become very good but if you train hard and commit yourself to it you could start competing a bit if you want. Flexibility and strength is important in gymnastics so do do a lot of conditioning and stretches.  

  4. I don't think your too old.  You go through different levels of training to prepare you for major stunts. The important thing is to keep "flexible"

  6. Age is but a number and its your life, do as you please.

    I was a speed skater (roller skates) as a kid. I then quit at 16 and never skated again. But at 37 I bought inline speed skates and picked it back up. In just a few short months I was one of the fastest on the team. And the teams ages were from 22 to 42.

    If I thought I was too old, I would never be having fun like I do skating now.

  7. no its totally okay, i gym theres a first start for everything, even though most girls have been doing it forever, its really easy to catch on, i was doing it for a while when i was little like 3-9 but then i stopped for a long time till now and im 13, i pretty much forgot everything but its okay cause once you get into it you will probebly progress really fast

  8. That depends on how long you practice. Practice makes perfect. I would work out probably 3 days for an hour or two. Try it!
