  1. Do you happen to be watching Sky Two at the min talking bout holiday reps?

    Naughty naughty lol!!!!

  2. Here's how it goes...

Step 1: Apply online for as many companies as you can. The top three are Thomson, MyTravel and Olympic.

Step 2: They'll contact you within a week or so about coming to an interview. Usually in Manchester, Essex, Liverpool or somewhere like that. At the interview there will be between 15 and 30 people there and they usually last all day. They're a lot of fun though. Pretend holiday situations, learning aboout the company and you'll have to give a pre-prepared presentation on something like your faveourite holiday destination and using props. They'll also ask you for your preference in country and are really good at trying to get you where you want to go.

Step 3: Half the people there will be sent home halfway through the day as they usually only let through a few. As long as you're friendly, upbeat and don't appear too nervous, you'll be fine.

Step 4: A day or so later you'll get a call letting you know you've got the job (if you make it to the end of the interview stage without any major problems then you've got it) and where and when you'll be flying out to. (which resort.)

Step 5: They will then fly you out to resort and you will have a week's induction out there. This part is so much fun. It's basically a week of partying, going to the beach and trying out all the excursions for free with all of your brand spanking new friends!

Step 6: You're a rep! Hard work but the best fun man!

So in answer to your question, it takes about two weeks to become a rep. Reps don't get paid massive amounts. About £450 a month + commission (average rep earning between £200 and £500 commission a month, but if you're good at what you do then the sky's the limit!) But don't forget that as well as your pay packet, they pay for your apartment (you'll live with 1 or 2 other reps and the apartments for the companies I've mentioned are always really nice), all of your utility bills, your transport, your uniform, you get breakfast and dinner for free in your hotel and you always get a discount, free entry or free drinks in the local clubs and restaurants. Plus you can go on the excursions for free anytime, your family and friends can stay in your house/apartment for two weeks for free, and at the airport if you have to confiscate any alcohol from your customers (if they have it in their hand-luggage at the airport) you get to keep it! I came back with a bottle of spirits from every airport shift I was on (once a week.) Also, there's a basket at the reps desk where people are asked to leave any toiletries or holiday stuff that would increase their baggage allowance. So you get loads of shampoo, suncream, books and lilos, etc that you can keep all for yourself! If you want any extra advice, send me an email and I'd be happy to help.

PS: It's not too late to start this summer, although you'll have missed the induction week in resort. Here are the websites if you want to apply...

    Thomson- http://www.thomson.co.uk/jobs/overseas-t...

MyTravel (now with Thomas Cook)- http://www.thomascookvacancies.com/Produ...

    Olympic- http://www.olympicholidays.com/informati...

    Good luck!

  3. by club rep do you mean club 18-30?

i used to work for them, i stopped two yrs ago. its a great job but v.v.hard. its changed alot from the old programs on sky etc.it really isnt as bad as i used to be (i was quite disapointed lol)!

if you go on a tour operators website it will have recruitment  details, try club 18-30,freestyle,2wentys if you want the whole magaluf, ibiza thing. or try thomas cook, first choice for hmmmmm sensible repping!!

when i applied i was sent a huge application form and thats where you really have to sell your personallity, try to come across as fun but not 'im mad fer it me' kinda thing.

if that works then you will be asked for an interview. 18-30's start in march-ish i think.i had to do a 6 hr interview!! there is a common knowlege test as well as maths etc, and lots of role plays. was quite hard  really. they normally send  some people home early if they havent got a chance- although they dont know this, then keep two groups a bit longer. when the 2nd group is sent home this is all the people that have def got a placement for summer-still they wont be told though. the last group is the 'maybes' and will have a last chance to 'sell themselves'.

it was the best job i have every done but it was a killer sometimes 18 hr days + because of airport runsbut ou cant show guests how tired you are they still want to show them a good time when all u want to do is sleep. money is good if you are a 'good seller' ie flog the trips, this is how you make your commision i used to make about £300 a week in resort(cash) but the basic is like £300-£400 a month!!! you dont get food allowences, so you have to sell the trips! hope this helps, but remember this is just how 18-30 work a rep from a differnt company might say something v.differnt.

    :)
