beginning from college how long will it take?

i want to become a neurosurgeon very badly .

i just wanna kno how long its gonna take to get there.

20 years?

15 years?

  1. Usually around 15 years. You have to calculate in 4 years of undergrad, 4 years of med school and about 6 years of being a resident specializing in neurosurgery and another 1-2 years doing advanced study for the neurosciences(optional)  It's a long process, but rewarding if you end up getting there... so they say...

    Medical school- 4 years

    Residency- General surgery- one-two years

                      Neurosurgery- 4 years

    any sub specialty - 1-5 years.

    15 years is a good general estimate.   Understand, it is not easy to get into a Neurosurgical program.  You have to excel all the way through.  Very demanding.  As to whether it is worth it or not depends on you.
