Question:

How long does it take to become an animal control officer and how much annual pay do they get?

I was interested in becoming a animal control officer because I haven't quite decided on a career yet I will be going to college soon and I love animals so I was wondering about how long ti takes to go thru school to become one and how much do they get paid on average? any help on this would be great only serious answers please.

  1. It all depends on where you work, and who you work for. It varies by department. You can work for a city, or a county. Maybe some states have a state department, but I'm not sure. I'd suggest you look up a local animal shelter, or animal control facility, and email them with your question. Ask them about education and experience that is needed. Where I live, the local county animal shelter requires that you have at least 2 years of hands on animal experience, and that includes kennel assistant, veterinarian, veterinary technician, veterinary assistant, zookeeper, or other work involving direct experience with animals. No education is required, other than high school diploma or GED.
