How long does it take to break in your shins and feet for kicking?

I am trying to transition for training in boxing to training in martial arts. My knuckles are already broken in (I can punch a 100lb heavy bag without any protection), but my shins took quiet a beating. Do you normally wait for them to heal before training again?

  1. How can you continue to strike a Thai bag with blistered and bubbling shins?  this question's kind of bullshido like dude.  this is a 50 - 50 question at best meaning 50% of practitioner will say to wait and heal up and the other 50% will say suck it up and continue to tear the skin off of your legs ( depends of practitioner in other words ).

As far as the knuncles being broke....are you sure you're ready for MMA?  I mean there is a technique to punching other than what you've been doing in "boxing" you know that right?  The first two knuckles ( index and middle knuckles ) on each hand are used for striking in MMA dude....you do know that right?

I don't know how any one can pratice Muay Thai shin kicks without letting the skin grow back on your shin, but hey I'm sure quite a few have done just that huh?  Especially independent fighters.  I have heard a lot about "Methyl-Salicylate" though that rubbing that stuff on your shins helps a lot.  Take some supplements too like calcium and vitamin D tablets.  As far as length in time goes I guess that's all going to boil down to what you're willing to put your self through "pain and healing wise".  I'd think your knees and elbows should be taking a pounding as well since you're praticing the "Science of Eight Limbs", but hey I've been wrong before....cough....cough.

How's your Muay Korat technique coming along? any focus on that yet?
