I just ended my second day of training at Applebee's. It's really hard to me. I like it, but it's really tough. I'm kind of getting overwhelmed, but I really want to work there and do a really, good job. Any advice...please?

  1. Give it a week or two. Maybe find out who you would get along well with there and take them out for dinner and talk about more information about what you need to know.

  2. I worked there for three years and made great money. Its tough but def worth it. Just pick up tricks of the trade from some of the other servers and you'll do fine

  3. Overwhelmed? I have a friend who works there and she says it's really simple...especially compared to the Olive Garden, where she used to work. But maybe her Applebees is different than yours. She said that there's usually a food runner, so all she has to do is get drinks, take the order, bring out appetizers if they got any, keep drinks filled, and drop the check. Is it different where you work?

Just be calm about it. Don't worry too much. In my experience, it's when you freak out that things get hard. If you approach things calmly, serving is a lot easier. It's all about being organized, and if you're worked up, your mind can't stay organized.

Also, be nice and SMILE!! even if your table is full of the biggest a******s in the world. If you're new, your managers will expect you to make mistakes. But you NEVER want a customer to be able to say you were mean/rude/etc. Don't give them that kind of power!
