Umm I heard somewhere that you can live a month with no food as long as you have water. If you don't have water then a week or something. I think this really depends on how much fat you have though. :)

Longer than you think.   The body will consume itself to stay alive.  Water on the other hand is needed.

The general rule (I remember this from watching CSI) is based on threes - how long someone can survive without air, shelter, water and food.

Generally speaking, someone will die within:

3 minutes without fresh air

3 hours without warmth/shelter  (assuming they're outside in a hostile environment)

3 days without water

3 weeks without food

But these are under missing person/lost in the woods type scenarios - your mileage may vary.

if you're still drinking water, and somehow getting sodium into your system, you can make it around 40 days with no substantial food, though it can vary depending on your weight and health.

with no water or salt, you'd die in about a week.
