I mean from Nice, France, along the whole west coast, then back up from the east coast to Croatia.

  1. About 13 Hours from Nice to Sicily (Messina) and 15 from Sicily to Croatia  (Nice to Naples took me about 9 hours)

In this period the road are very busy and for going to Sicily you have to take a ferry. The price of gasoline in France and Italy is very high (1.49 euro for litre, 2,20 dollars) so it's a bit expensive.

  2. Well from Nice to Reggio Calabria is nearly 1,400km. Which is 14hrs driving. You would probably need to split this into 2 days. (The motorway south of Naples is quite bad and will probably take a while to get down to Reggio Calabria) Before Reggio Calabria is Villa San Giovanni which is where you get the boat for Messina, if you are wanting to visit Sicily.

From Villa San Giovanni to Trieste (via Bari) which will take you all along the Adriatic coast is another (roughly) 1,400km. Split into 2 days.

I think if you want to see places and stop along the way, to make it a worthy trip you need at least 10/14 days. Otherwise you will just be driving the whole time and unless you are have driven long distance before, you will know its very tiring.

Plus the motorways in Italy are quite expensive, especially as you are going to be doing all these km. You could look at roughly how much it will cost on the motorway, by going onto this site: www.autostrade.it

and going into percorsi. which will tell you the toll from one place to the next.

Also petrol and diesel is quite expensive as well. Around 1.47/1.52 euros per litre. (this is roughly, and i mean rough because its different all over Italy)

  3. It is impossible to answer..are more 2500 km..from Nice to Sicily island and come back..Also depend if you are only one driver and how many hours you choose to drive every day..Along the coast the roads are full of cars..so you loose a lot of time. Speedy ways are in central area of our peninsula..I think not less a week..

  4. I thing was around 12 hours.But it was 6 years ago...I'm not sure.

  5. You really haven't given enough information to elicit a good answer.  You are talking about several days to a week, depending on whether or not you plan to stop along the way, or take back roads (rather than the autostrada).  Also, Sicily is an island and is not connected to the mainland except by ferry.  You need at least a day just to drive around Sicily, and that wouldn't include any stops.
