  1. Driving time from Auckland to Wellington would be around 9-10 hours with the usual stops along the way.

  2. about 9 hours from Akl to Well, then you have to cross on the ferry, which takes 2 to 3.5 hours, depending on the ferry you use.

Keep in mind the fact that even tho the distances might not appear far on maps, the roads are not motorways, and you can not generally sit on 100km per hour for extended periods.  They are generally single laned with little chance of over-taking slower vehicles and also they are pretty windey and steep in places.

  3. Auckland to Wellington 9-10 hours, and then you take the ferry to the south island which is 3 hours on the normal ferry, and about 1 or 1.5 hours on the fast ferry.

From Rotorua to Wellington is about 7 hours

  4. its 5 hours from auckland to napier, then about 3 hours from napier to wellington, then about 3 hours across the cook strait by ferry, have a nice trip!

  5. Auckland to Rotorua     3.30 hours

    Rotorua- Welly               6.30 hours

    Cook Strait                     3 hours

    Picton-Christchurch        5 hours

    Christchurch-Dunedin    5 hours

    Dunedin- Invercargill      3 hours

    Total                                26 hours.
