How long does it take to drive from Mexico City to Acapulco?

I was this summer in Mexico and, by bus, we did the 350 km. in 5 hours.

haha. the LAST person has no clue what they are talking about. the first 2 ppl are correct. I am from Mexico city and have 2 apartments in Acapulco. I have been going back and forth since i could remember. it does only take about 3-4 hrs. there are to routes to take. one that they call the "old route" which has no tolls. and then there is the new route which has tolls. that is the best and safest one.

neither person above has been to Mexico and made that drive. It is not 2.5 hours it is about 3-4 depending on road conditions and how many check points are on the way the day you travel. Also keep in mind it's a 1 hour trip just to get from the Mexico City Airport to the edge of town to start the trip. Another thing when going to fuel up in Mexico City and be sure to stop at only busy gas stations to refuel. Bad fuel is a big issues out of major cities in Mexico.
