  1. Mapquest says 13.5 hours and 625 miles.

  2. 13.5 hours is a good estimate in good weather conditions. The highway (highway 17 aka the transcanada) goes through some of the most spectacular and rugged scenery anywhere. The section north of Lake Superior is especially beautiful. In the winter time, however, it can be a treacherous drive. The highway is often closed due to heavy snow and icy conditions. At the very least you have to prepare yourself  for a much longer trip in the winter than the summer.

  3. 13.0 hours 18 minutes. Distance: 624.48 miles.

1: Start out going SOUTHWEST on BRADY ST/ RR-49 toward SHAUGHNESSY ST. Continue to follow RR-49.

    2: Turn LEFT onto LORNE ST/ RR-55. Continue to follow RR-55 W.

    3: Take the RTE-17 O/ HWY-17 W ramp toward SAULT STE. MARIE.

4: Merge onto PROVINCIAL ROUTE 17 W/ TRANS CANADA HWY W.

5: Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto BLACK RD/ PROVINCIAL ROUTE 17/ TRANS CANADA HWY.

6: Turn LEFT onto PROVINCIAL ROUTE 17/ 2ND LINE E/ TRANS CANADA HWY.

7: Turn RIGHT onto GREAT NORTHERN RD/ PROVINCIAL ROUTE 17/ TRANS CANADA HWY. Continue to follow PROVINCIAL ROUTE 17 W/ TRANS CANADA HWY W.

8: Turn LEFT onto HARBOUR EXPY.

9: Turn RIGHT onto MEMORIAL AVE/ PROVINCIAL ROUTE 11B/ PROVINCIAL ROUTE 17B. Continue to follow PROVINCIAL ROUTE 11B/ PROVINCIAL ROUTE 17B.

10: End at Thunder Bay, ON

  4. No, but if you use any of the map services online (yahoo maps, google maps, mapquest) it will tell you the drive time and you can print out a route.
