How long does it take to establish a career in web design?

hello. Ive been interested in majoring in web and graphic desgn for quite some time now. If anyone can offer information on the perks, opportunities, demand and most importantly the time it takes to get through school to obtain a degree or at least enough to build a career, etc, that would be awesome.anyone? prefferebly from someone with first hand experience. thanks guys!

    You can register at freelance websites like http://getafreelnacer.com/ , http://scriptlance.biz/ , http://eufrelance.com/ ,etc and start bidding for all web designing projects posted there .

    if you want to be a designer, there are a lot to learn.

    you don't really need to have a degree.

    here are the softwares you need to learn:

    1- HTML: in the first place learn html

    2- Photoshop: it's good to know photoshop, so you can use it for the graphic parts

    3- dream weaver: you design web pages with it, with out any need ot write codes

    7-Adobe flash: to make interactive web pages

    ** now the prgramming part comes:

    4- php: this is a good prgram to learn

    5- learn how to make a connection between php and SQL

    6- javascript

    **** basically if you know all these softwares, you will be able to make good websites.

    ( there are more thing to learn like ASP, ASP.net, CGI and..... , but my recomendation to you in that focuse only on a few of these, like a doctors, we have general doctors, heart doctor....)

    I would say if you want to be a web designer, you should work 1 to 2 year on these softwares.
