hi i am getting a parrotlet baby, i was wondering if anyone knows how long do they take to be fully weaned? from hatching to eating seeds. I have read every site and each bird is different but is it around 6weeks from hatching day?

  1. DON'T get this bird until it is FULLY weaned. It doesn't matter HOW long it takes -- if you have never hand fed a bird, you'll do more harm than good. It can't be too much longer, but WAIT until it's weaned to seeds and/or pellets.

  2. Even though it is around six weeks, there will be individual birds which will wean earlier or later. Like human babies, some will take more time. Please get full instructions and practice if you are buying an unweaned bird, so you don't hurt it.

  3. They wean at about 6 weeks of age.
