How long does it take to get Canadian Citizenship?

  1. There are long waiting times, depending upon what country ur BF is applying from. Please check the website below for waiting times.

    But if u mean, he is already in Canada for three years & applying for naturalisation then it takes roughly (eight to) twelve months from filing the application to actually getting the citizenship card or passport.

First of all your boyfriend would have to get permanent residence in Canada.  Depending on how he would plan to immigrate that would take about 1 to 2 years.  After he has had permanent residence for 3-5 years (again it depends what visa he has) he would be eligible to apply for citizenship.  It then takes about another year to get citizenship.

    So, you are looking at somewhere between 5-8 years.
