How long does it take to get X-ray results?

Question

On Tuesday I got my wrist X-rayed to see if my Scaphoid bone was broken, the doctor said that he would call if it was broken or if there is further treatment required past the splint they gave me(If not broken, it is at least sprained). The doctor has not called, it is now Friday.

Would I know by now? Or could it still take longer since it was through a doctor(the radiologist has to read the X-rays, then send the results to the doctor) and because it was a non-emergency since it's not life-threatening and isn't very debilitating like if it had been a leg injury.

The hospital is fairly busy and the only thing I have to compare is when I broke my foot I got X-ray results in about 3 hours, but that was through the emergency department so it's a lot faster and can't really be compared to the current situation.

Thanks for any answers, and I'm probably going to eventually call the doctor just to check, but I'm just kind of wondering now if I should've had results be now.

Just call the doctor to check X-Ray results are available immediately. Don't be surprised if the doctor takes a couple days to get back to you or his/her assistant calls you instead. Put your mind at ease.

I've been x-rayed 5 times in this calendar year alone and 4 of those times were non-emergency (I do live in a small town, so the hospital isn't usually busy) and I got the x-rays back the same day. From what I've found, if a doctor tells youhe will call you if somethings wrong, they usually call within a day or so. I wouldn't worry too much.

x-rays are usally availablee soon asthey'ree taken. your doctor should have contacted you within 3 days if he see anything.when you thought that you broke your bone did ibruisese around the area? if so the doctor may have been able to see if the area wabruisese. so if he stilhasn'tnt contacted  you, you should call them on the next business day and ask for the resultsts...
