  1. one week is the shortest time. that was how long it took my daughter to get hers when she was adopted out

  2. I think you can get it done fast in like 1 week. but it usually takes about 6 weeks to a few months.

  3. Wow, that 1st answer was a wild guess...anywhere from one week to several months...and no documentation.  I always wonder why people answer when they obviously have no info to give.  See site below and look at the little box with the green lines in it.  It gives you the current, accurate info.

  4. The fastest way to get your passport done is to complete the application by "E-pass" off of the Passport Canada site, take it in person to a Passport office, and then pay the extra $10 to pick it up.  (rather than have it mailed to you)

The e-pass allows you to be faster if you go in person to a Passport Canada office.  There will be two lines, one for E-pass applications and one for "regular" ones.  (when I went for mine, the time difference was a 5 min wait as opposed to over an hour)  E-pass also can detect common errors as you fill out the form...which will help when you submit the application.  (E-pass has the bar codes on the application)

Going down to a Passport Canada office will allow the agent in front of you to check the form over and see any obvious problems.  You also wont have to send away your documents, they will be checked and verified in front on you, and returned.  Any problems with your photo will also be detected then.  Service Canada receiving agents can check over documents for you and your application...but it still has to be sent away and that takes more time.

Paying the extra $10 on top of the normal fee for pickup is def. worth it.  That way you get to go get it when it is ready, they will give you a firm date when to pick it up and you don't depend on Canada Post delivery when you are getting antsy when it isnt there when you think it should be.

In general, you can check the Passport Canada site to see approx. how long applications are currently taking.

Take down your proof of vacation if you have it too.  There is a spot on the application where they ask about that.  You can also pay extra to have the application "rushed", but only in certain cases.  (when we picked up our passports, we were quoted 10 days, but it was ready in 7.  They gave us a tracking number to see the status of it)
