How long does it take to get a Receipt Notice of I-485?

My girlfriend (here on a student visa) will be filing some of these papers after we get married and I need to know this info. Thanks!

The first receipt notice usually arrives within one month. The approval notice has been taking a bit longer, usually 2-3 months after filing. It depends on your local CIS office from there.

I filed my paperwork back in Dec 2007, the receipts came before the end of the year, biometrics appt was set for 1st week in Jan, Advance parole and Work Permit was received 1st week of Feb, Immigration Interview was scheduled for first week of Apr, and I got my Green Card in the mail 3 weeks later.

my husband send those papers for me in march, and took  3 weeks to send the  receipt notice.

2 months for the biometrics, and 3 months for the appointment enterview.
