How long does it take to get a california id?

how long does it take to get a california id?? also i need to get my drivers license, but i don't know what i need to do, i'm eighteen and i took drivers ed in high school...do you know what tests i need to take? like the written i know, but do i still need to take the driving test?

after you pass the written/multiple choice section, you obtain your permit. there is a a specific amount of requirements that must be fulfilled before you set an appointment for your driving test. simply call your local dmv, to set up that appointment to their availability. they will inform you what you need to bring, & what to expect during the test (if they don't, simply ask & they will usually tell you.) the test doesn't take long, though feels like a lifetime. by the end of the test you will know your score & if you've passed. if you have passed, you take your picture that day. the license & id take the same amount of time to come in the mail - 3 weeks to 2 months (depending upon their level of work). though they'll give you a temporary with a picture id in the mean time that will work anywhere you go as you id. an id is great to have because if you lose it, it's ony $6.
