  1. No other laws over rule Egyptian law- so if the person were married in Egypt then the papers mean Egyptian law over rules the American law.

divorces can take any amount of time- average including the waiting period for the wife would be six months- if the wife is Muslim but less if she was not Muslim- or the couple were both Christians or another faith group - it depends on the complexity of the individual case and the amount of paper work to be done. for example if a person were married under the Egyptian law and there was items or goods given at the start of the married life all these things need to be taken care of. (children involved is something else)

The paper work and attendance at courts, can be done through lawyers if both parties didnt find it a complex divorce, however it would drag on if not.

The husband would have to provide reasons as to why the wife refused to sign the papers and the wife would need to give satisfactory explantions to the court as to why she wouldnt sign. In the end if the husband wanted a divorce he would most likely be granted it- what would come out of the marriage for a wife would depend on the religion of both parties - that  A) was stipulated on the marriage papers in Egypt at the time of marriage and B) if a person changed religion after marriage then the person would need to supply that paper work for any money, powers, allowances.

All the husband would need to do to divorce the wife under american law is submit - the papers given to him by the office in Cairo - to the American Embassy in Cairo- for a few LE then the American Embassy would forward these papers to the USA and it would be accepted as a divorce at the USA end.

    I hope that makes sense-
