UK are not in the schengen system ..you need a passport matey if your British and you are entitled to travel anywhere in European Union unless your from outside of European Union

Are you in London and wanting a schengen visa to visit some of the countries in the schengen zone ? if so, you must you must address yourself to the first country you wish to enter when going to the schengen zone,therefore go to the consulate of your destination to apply ,

as for the time span ? it all depends on which country you apply to,and your citizenship status,

now, if you meant to visit London ? you will need the embassy /consulate in the country you are now residing to apply

The UK is not part of the Schengen agreement. You'll need a passport and visa like everyone else.

I assume you wish to visit a Schengen country and do not have indefinite leave to remain in  the UK - my husband applied for this type of visa to go and visit his brother and it took 2 weeks start to finish but he had to attend the consulate in person.  

Whichever country you are going to book an appointment at their offices as soon as possible but be aware as the summer approaches visa processing times are likely to get longer and longer.
