  1. well, you need to be a canadian citizen. But once all the prerequisits are met, it takes one to two months. :)

    Hope this helps!

  2. you need a work permit first, not easy to get

  3. We don't have Social Security cards, we have Social Insurance cards. Same idea, different name.

In order to get one, you need to be a Canadian citizen and it will take a few weeks before it arrives due to gov't bureaucracy.

  4. Good luck with that lol. I'm married to a Canadian and pregnant with his kid and I can't get a social insurance number. They don't have SS numbers here. In order to work here, you'd have to get a work visa, which from what i've been told by immigration isn't an easy thing to do. I flew in where they almost made two men with work visas go back to the States. Call Immigration and see what they can do if anything at all. To me they've been no help at all, but your situation is totally different. Ask them what things you need to get a work visa and how much it'll cost. I think it might be around 150 to 200 dollars. I'm not completely sure though. You would also need proof that you have a job offer before hand, but like I said, call Immigration and ask. Hopefully they'll give you a straight answer.
